A Note from Jeff | Print |

For 120 years, Noah looked foolish to onlookers who lived in close proximity.  They mockingly disregarded and rejected him assuming that he was completely “out of touch with reality” in that day.   He was looked at as a "whacked out" God nut whose project would end only in further humiliation and embarrassment.   Why would Noah ever think that he should build that big boat?  What in his life gave him empirical proof that this was a good idea?

For about 25 years, nearly a century-old Abraham was “jeered at” when he communicated to others that he was going to be the father of a great nation.  And add to that - he and his wife would have a son?  "Ha ha, no way," said the multitude.   Even his wife Sarah laughed toward God Himself when He came and declared to Abraham that Sarah would give birth in her old age.   Why would Abraham ever think that he would father a baby, especially in Sarah's womb?  What in his life gave him empirical proof that this was a good idea?

Both Noah and Abraham (and countless others in the Scriptures) simply listened to God and believed Him when He told them something so seemingly outlandish to do.  Does God speak to us in the same way that He spoke to Noah and Abraham?  Maybe, maybe not; that does not matter.  What matters is that God does indeed speak to us today – we are not to be overly concerned how this is done but to just listen to Him and Him only.  How do we listen?  Talk to Him, meditate on Him, and very important, be constantly thankful for and to Him.  If we are truly in love with God, we will hear his voice in one way or another.  He saved us from everlasting simultaneous drowning while burning.  Moreover, he gave us a perfect home in eternity with a perfect King, perfect joy, perfect health, perfect family of believers, ...perfect everything.  And all we did to deserve that was to rebel against Him.  That makes me want to be a “God nut.”

To reiterate:  What did Noah and Abraham have in common?  They LISTENED to God.  They believed Him.  There was no empirical proof that any of this would ever come true (Read Hebrews 11:1).  And that is what we as steadfast Christians must do in these politically and economically challenging times.  We must listen to God by faith, though it sometimes seems that He may not hear us.  Furthermore, we must act when He says to act and refrain from acting when He does not lead us to act.
There are numerous good Christian folks who are deeply concerned about some of the possibilities that could emerge if certain aspects of socialism abound:  Parent's rights blocked by government?   Great Depression #2?  You are not alone in your thinking, and this website endeavors to help you.

So today, many will accuse you, me and others of being “God nuts” that are “out of touch with reality,” and so we may be “jeered at” simply because we are concerned for our families enough to explore out-of-the-box ideas.  But like our forefathers, we must listen to God and drown out the chaff that tries to distract us.  And this listening may result in holding tight, battling and weathering the storm locally.  In fact,God may lead some to do one thing and some another.  Thus, the correct answer will depend entirely on God's communication with each of us and our interpretation/understanding of the Lord's direction.

The four of us (and others) believe that God sent us to Belize.  He and He alone knows how that excursion will bless – I don't exactly know.  It could bless hundreds of thousands of concerned and steadfast Christians; it could bless merely one.  Like Noah, Abraham, Elijah, JESUS...our walk with God is one day at a time.  We must not lean on our own understanding, but we must trust in the Lord with all our hearts.  Sounds cliché – but it is the Bible.  This Scripture (Proverbs 3:5-6) is so often quoted that it appears to be grossly overlooked.  It needs to be a practical reality in our lives today.

Let's move to Belize!  Sounds fun, sounds adventuresome, sounds extremely affordable, and I can start a business!  Maybe this is all true, but I urge you to be cautious and sure that your unctions are of God.  I have made mistakes in the past by acting on my bliss and emotions.  Of course, God can redeem and/or teach us anything, which He did, and I learned.  But this type of life adjustment is more that just buying a pony.  Please pray and ask others in your fellowship body to pray earnestly for steadfast Christian families around the the country to listen to what God is saying.

Thank you, and God bless you.
